Equine Therapy
Slow down. Let go. Let the horse bring you back to yourself.
You're successful, smart, and strong—but you’re tired. Tired of the anxiety, the overthinking, the pressure to be "on" all the time. Tired of knowing all the right things and still feeling overwhelmed.
If traditional talk therapy has helped—but only to a point—you’re not broken. You might just need a new kind of space for healing.
That’s where equine-assisted psychotherapy using the EAGALA Model comes in.
Why horses?
Why now?
Horses don't care about your résumé.
They don’t judge your emotions.
They respond to what’s real—what’s happening in your body, your energy, and your presence.
Equine therapy, specifically the EAGALA Model of therapy, offers a powerful, research-backed way to work with these incredible animals in a safe, ethical, and deeply effective structure. It’s designed for people who want:
Real emotional insight without pressure to “perform” or overexplain
Immediate, embodied feedback from a nonverbal, honest partner (the horse)
A deeper connection to their emotions, boundaries, and nervous system
A fresh path forward when talk therapy isn’t enough
This isn’t riding. This is ground-based, experiential therapy—and it changes people in profound ways.
What Is the EAGALA Model?
EAGALA stands for Equine Assisted Growth and Learning Association—an internationally recognized, evidence-based framework for equine-assisted psychotherapy. It’s grounded in:
A licensed mental health professional (that's me)
An equine specialist trained in horse behavior and safety
A horse or herd as the central partner in your healing
No riding, no judgment, no pressure—just experiential, in-the-moment work
Every session is guided by what you bring emotionally, and what unfolds between you and the horse—supported safely by two trained professionals.
This isn’t metaphorical or mystical. It’s practical, grounded, and deeply human.
Is equine therapy right for you?
Equine-assisted psychotherapy is especially helpful for:
🧠 Overthinkers stuck in self-doubt and mental loops
💼 Professionals who are burnt out, anxious, or emotionally shut down
💗 People who feel “too much” and don’t know where to put their pain
🌪 Individuals who want to feel better—not just think better
No horse experience is needed. No “right way” to do this. Just a willingness to show up and be real.
What Sessions Look Like
Sessions take place at [BARN NAME] in [CITY], KY.
No riding — all work is done on the ground
Activities may include observation, leading, grooming, or simply being in the horse’s presence
You’re supported at all times by a licensed therapist and a certified equine specialist
The horse responds to your emotions and energy—not your words
Expect space. Expect stillness. Expect emotional clarity without a lecture.
Why This Works for High Achievers
Your brain is used to solving problems. Analyzing. Planning. Performing.
But healing isn’t a performance. And not everything can be thought through.
In equine therapy, you’ll learn to:
Regulate your nervous system through body awareness
Build boundaries without guilt
Be seen and accepted without needing to explain yourself
Let go of old patterns of perfectionism and control
Feel instead of perform
You don’t have to overachieve your way to peace. You just have to show up.
The Equine Team
Hi, I’m Caroline Kelly. I’m a licensed therapist who specializes in helping high-functioning, emotionally intense teens and adults navigate anxiety, perfectionism, and burnout.
Horses have been a central part of my life since childhood. I grew up riding, showing, and forming deep connections with them. I have experienced firsthand the grounding, honest presence they offer. Integrating this lifelong connection into my clinical work felt like a natural extension of the healing process she guides her clients through.
Aramie Bloom is an EAGALA-certified Equine Specialist with a B.A. in Equine Administration from the University of Louisville. Aramie brings years of experience in equine care, behavior, and ethical equine-assisted therapy.
With years of experience in the equine world, Aramie aims to create a supportive, structured, and deeply healing environment grounded in the EAGALA Model.
Our horse partners do what they do best—offer honest feedback, hold space without judgment, and help clients reconnect with parts of themselves they may have lost in the pressure to be “fine.”
You don’t have to know anything about horses to begin. You just have to be ready to slow down, listen in, and let the process unfold.
